Sensability Scheme

Aim:

The Housing Authority wishes to assist families with members with a disability who experience sensory challenges and/or sensory overload.  The aim of this initiative is to give financial assistance to these families to cover part of the expense to purchase sensory equipment for the needs of these clients.

C​riteria:

1. The financial assistance, of up to €6,000 may be granted for the purpose of assisting the applicant in purchasing sensory equipment;
​2. ​The applicant has to be the legal representative, parent, children or brothers/sisters of the person having autism;
​3. Grant is given in line with an Occupational Therapist’s advice on the works equipment required according to the needs of the person having autism;
​4. ​Assets of applicants during the year preceding the date of application should not exceed €150,000 and income should be below €50,000;
​5. ​ The grant is based on applicants’ aggregate income for the year prior to date of application;
​6. ​The Housing Authority issues payments upon presentation of fiscal receipts by applicants for the equipment purchased, and after the Authority ascertains that equipment has been fully fitted and fixed as approved and that all conditions have been observed;
​7. ​No means testing is to be carried out on applicants in receipt of the following Non Contributory Benefits:-
SA - Social Assistance

SUP - Social Assistance Single Parents

UA - Unemployment Assistance

AP - Age Pension

NMIP – National Minimum Invalidity Pension​


 
L-Għan:-

L-Awtorità tad-Djar tixtieq tgħin lill-familji  b’membri b'diżabilità li jesperjenzaw sfidi sensorji.  L-għan ta’ din l-inizjattiva huwa li tagħti għajnuna finanzjarja lil dawn il-familji biex tkopri parti mill-ispiża għax-xiri ta’ tagħmir sensorjali għall-bżonnijiet ta’ dawn il-persuni. 

Kriterji:-

​​1. L-assistenza finanzjara, sa massimu ta’ €6,000 tista’ tingħata għall-iskop li tgħin  lill-applikant jixtri tagħmir sensorjali;
​2. L-applikant irrid ikun rappreżentant legali, ġenitur, wild jew ħu/oħt il-persuna li għandu l-awtiżmu;
​3. ​L-għ​ajnuna tingħata skont parir tal-Occupational Therapist fuq x’tip ta’ apparat neċessarju għandhom bżonn dawn il-persuni;
​4. ​Minn sena qabel id-data tal-applikazzjoni l-applikanti ma jridx ikollhom assi ta’ aktar minn €150,000 waqt li d-dħul għas-sena qabel l-appikazzjoni irid ikun anqas minn €50,000;
​5. ​L-għotja hija bbażata fuq id-dħul aggregat tal-applikanti għas-sena ta’ qabel id-data tal-applikazzjoni;
​6. L-assistenza tiġi mħallsa mill-Awtorità tad-Djar kontra rċevuti fiskali provduti mill-applikant u wara li l-istess Awtorità taċċerta ruħha li l-apparat ġie kollhu  imwaħħal  kif approvat kif ukoll li ġew osservati l-kundizzjonijiet kollha ta' din l-iskema;
​7. ​Ma jsir l-ebda eżami tal-mezzi f’każ li l-applikanti jkunu qegħdin jirċievu wieħed mis-segwenti benefiċċji mhux kontributorji:-

SUP - Għajnuna Soċjali għal Senitur Wieħed

UA - Assistenza għal-Qagħad

AP - Penzjoni mhux Kontributorja

NMIP - Penzjoni Nazzjonali Minima tal-Invalidita’
