PRESS RELEASE BY THE MINISTRY FOR SOCIAL AND AFFORDABLE ACCOMMODATION
Another regeneration project in the social housing area in Tarxien
Minister for Social and Affordable Accommodation Roderick Galdes visited the social housing area in Tarxien, one of several social housing buildings being regenerated.
Extensive façade improvement works have been completed in Tarxien across several social housing blocks, covering 77 apartments in total. An investment of around €650,000 was allocated to this project, with works being carried out by the Housing Authority in collaboration with Housing Projects Solutions Limited to support urban regeneration and enhance the area’s aesthetic environment.
During the on-site visit, Minister Galdes highlighted that the works carried out in Tarxien are not a one-off project but part of a series of projects in various localities designed to give new life to the areas of social housing in our country.
“The main objective of regeneration is to improve the quality of life of residents and raise the standard of the areas where these projects are being carried out. This will also address the challenges faced in a dynamic market such as housing.” said Minister Galdes.
He said that the Government is committed to continuing to combine the value of the quality of life of residents with the sustainability of the place where they live. “We are committed to continue working towards a dignified housing and a quality environment around the areas of social housing that are of a high level in favour of the dignity of residents.” concluded Minister Galdes.
Similar regeneration works have also been carried out in Gudja, Mosta, Santa Luċija, Marsa, Fgura, Ta’ Ġiorni, Żejtun and Ħamrun.
