Investment of More than €760,000 in Embellishment Works in 11 Blocks of Housing Apartments in Ta’ Xbiex

Minister for Accommodation and Lands, Owen Bonnici, announced an investment of €762,021 in embellishment works in 11 blocks of housing apartments in Ta’ Xbiex, which will benefit 91 families.

The works started in February and are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

During an on-site visit, Minister Bonnici said that this investment demonstrates the Government’s commitment to improving the quality of life of the residents of the Housing Estates while maintaining the residential buildings in good condition.

Minister Bonnici emphasised that these works not only improve the locality’s appearance but also contribute to a safer, more sustainable environment for families living in these apartments.

Through a programme dedicated to the improvement and maintenance of Housing Estates, extensive works are being carried out on the façades, rooftops and common parts of residential blocks to improve the condition of the buildings and the quality of life of residents.

Among the works being carried out in these housing blocks in Ta’ Xbiex are the restoration of façades, the opening of lines and pointing, the repair of balcony concrete, painting and plastering, as well as the installation of vent covers. General cleaning, application of liquid membrane, painting and plastering of stairways, reorganisation of water tanks and pipes and removal of asbestos from roofs, where necessary, are among the works being carried out. Common parts will benefit from plastering and painting of internal walls and ceilings, painting of stairway railings, lighting system repairs or upgrades, installation of new intercoms where necessary, replacement of wooden meter cupboards with aluminium ones, works on tiles and marble, as well as the replacement of apertures in the common areas.

Permanent Secretary Ramon Deguara, Chief Executive of Housing Projects Solutions Marisa Marmara, Chairman of the Housing Authority Robert Ducker, and Executive Secretary of Ta’ Xbiex Local Council Simeon Nechev were also present for this visit.
